Tending and Dreaming: A Cultural Journey of Care and Resilience in South Minneapolis

Part I: Pilgrimage and Creative Neighboring at George Floyd Square

10:00 AM-1:00 PM
Partners:
Rise and Remember, Pillsbury House + Theatre

Begin the day with a guided pilgrimage journey through George Floyd Square, a sacred site of remembrance and activism. Led by community stewards from Rise and Remember, this portion invites reflection, storytelling, and an embodied understanding of the Square’s offerings, installations, and murals. The experience continues with Pillsbury House + Theatre, engaging participants in “creative neighboring”—a practice of community-rooted artmaking and care—with a hands-on session that explores how art and relationship-building support long-term justice work.

12:30 PM Midway Lunch Break

Part II: Cultural Tending Along Lake Street

1:00 PM-2:30 PM
Partners:
Pangea World Theater

In the Longfellow neighborhood—near the site of the former 3rd Precinct—local cultural leaders are tending to collective grief while imagining bold, community-rooted futures. This second part of the journey follows Lake Street to explore how artists, neighbors, and organizers are reclaiming space, restoring trust, and rebuilding what was fractured. Guided by Pangea World Theater and neighborhood partners, participants will experience public art, storytelling, and shared visioning that reflect a deep commitment to healing and belonging. This is not just a tour of place, but of possibility—where cultural work is a practice of care and a strategy for transformation.
